It is our pleasure, as the Event Host Committee, to invite you to a fundraiser in support of the Pennsylvania College Democrats. This organization works painstakingly hard, year after year, to ensure Democrats are elected to public office at the local, state and federal levels. PACD has continued to fight for Democratic ideals and have been supportive of, not just college students and young people but, our senior citizens and working families.

Because of their tenacity, knocking on thousands of doors and phone banking for countless hours, candidates have been elected and initiatives have become reality. The PA College Dems were honored for their dedication, being named “Federation of the Year” by the College Democrats of America; an award currently hanging in Congressman Doyle’s Pittsburgh office!

The reception will take place on Thursday, July 8th from 6pm until 8pm at The Steamfitters UA Local 449 Hall located at 1517 Woodruff Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15220. Suggested donations for this event are $10 for College Democrats, $25 for Young Professionals and $150 for Event Sponsors. Your donation can be made at the door or,

Please mail donations to:
PA College Democrats
P.O. Box 7391
Pittsburgh, PA 15213

Even if you can’t make it to Pittsburgh that night we encourage you to send a donation. Your generous contribution will be used to send members of the PACD to their National Convention at the end of July where they will network with other college democrats, political professionals and elected officials. By taking part in this convention they will be bringing back to the Commonwealth best practices of how to keep Pennsylvania BLUE!

Yours truly,

Congressman Mike Doyle (PA-14)
PA College Dems Executive Director

Honorable Chelsa Wagner
State Representative (PA-22)

Honorable Theresa Kail-Smith
Pittsburgh City Council (District 2)

Jack Shea, President
Allegheny County Labor Council

P.S. For everyone that can make it that night, we have a very special gift for each of you!!!

Seeking Interns for Major Political Campaign in Pennsylvania!
Joe Hoeffel 2010 is seeking motivated and hardworking individuals
join the campaign in the final 1-2 weeks leading up to Pennsylvania’s
May 18 primary.
This is the perfect way to gain experience in a high stakes
political campaign that receives national attention. Spend time
learning the game and working for a great candidate between school and
summer—and open doors for this summer and the future. Responsibilities
could include phone-banking, canvassing, event planning and
organizing, media outreach and Get Out The Vote efforts with the
opportunity to meet others interested in the field and to learn about
the workings of a large scale campaign.
Joe Hoeffel 2010 is looking for students who share Joe’s
commitment to progressive values and social justice and who are
excited about real grassroots political campaigning! Interns will work
directly with political professionals who have years of experience in
all aspects of campaign work. Members of our staff have held senior
positions in Presidential campaigns, United States Senate and
Congressional elections, statewide gubernatorial and big-city mayoral
races, and dozens of local contests.
Students who commit to work in the time leading up to the primary
will be set up with housing, and outstanding performers will receive
priority consideration for positions on staff in the general
election. This is a great opportunity for anyone wanting political
experience to add to a resume.
E-mail internship@joehoeffel2010.com for more information or to
apply. And check out our website, joehoeffel2010.com, to learn more
about Joe’s plan for Pennsylvania.

Sestak Campaign opportunities:

Regional Coordinator — Students for Sestak is looking for organizers at the regional level throughout the state of Pennsylvania. “Regional Coordinators” work in conjunction with our Senate campaign and our representation on college campuses to plan how to best utilize our student volunteer force. They plan and organize mass phone banks, canvasses, street canvasses, and other volunteer activity. Overall, they are responsible for the health of the Students for Sestak organization in their region.

Campus Coordinator — Students for Sestak is looking for representatives from colleges and universities around the state to act as organizers for their particular campuses. These “Campus Coordinators” are the face of the Sestak for Senate Campaign to the students at their school. They are responsible for recruiting student volunteers and interns as well as facilitating remote volunteer activity. They play an integral role in the campaign and are our eyes and ears on the ground, interfacing between our campaign and their community.

Intern — Students for Sestak has campaign internships available for interested students able to work on a regular, scheduled basis. Interns assist campaign staff with research, volunteer management, events, and other activity. They are integral to the upkeep of the campaign.

Volunteer– Students for Sestak is always looking for new volunteers who are interested in getting involved with the Sestak for Senate Campaign. We need students who are interested in phone banking, canvassing houses in their area, and handing out literature at major commercial center when they have time available to help.

All interested should contact Matthew Block by email at studentsforsestak@joesestak.com or by phone at (610) 891-8956.
